Sustainable living is about living in harmony with nature and without unnecessary waste.

Most Australians are under the pretext that Blockchain Technology is Bitcoin. With so many scams in the promotion of Bitcoin, they align Blockchain Technology in a similar mould. It could not be further from the truth as Blockchain is only the software behind Bitcoin. Furthermore, the business model of many Blockchain Platforms is based on digital formats, which is cloud-based and intangible. Therefore, making it more difficult for the public to understand Blockchain.

Phaeton changes the paradigm.

At Phaeton, we aim to change this paradigm by demonstrating how Blockchain Technology can be incorporated in real-life situations and not purely through cryptocurrency. Phaeton Smarter Housing is a new generation of housing that incorporates the latest digital and construction technology underpinned by Phaeton Blockchain Technology, creating a smarter and more sustainable home for all. This form of housing includes some of the key elements listed below.

  • Off-grid solutions driven by renewable energy, therefore, reducing our carbon footprint.

These core elements apply to all levels of housing, be it detached homes, group housing, high-rise apartments, or new land development estates.

Phaeton Smarter Housing

The first smart homes have only existed for a short while. Today’s smart homes include home automation such as security access, temperature, lighting, and remote video surveillance. While acknowledging the benefits of a traditional smart home, Phaeton Smarter Housing is based on the principle of an off-grid housing solution. It includes additional layers by incorporating sustainable principles and more intelligent technology as follows:

1. Home for the future — With climate change, we need to address sustainability matters. An eco-friendly home that is not reliant on the grid will reduce carbon emissions, setting the example of a future home.

2. Reduce the environmental footprint — Never in the history of the planet has there been a critical need to safeguard our environment. If we start living in an eco-friendly home house, then we are contributing to this cause.

3. Decrease energy cost — A home with sustainable components saves energy costs. Although there is the initial capital cost in these solutions, these components pay for themselves over the long term.

4. Independent of the grid — Depending on the location, power outages can be a nuisance. Outages can also occur due to natural disasters or fires. If a home is off-the-grid, it will not be affected by these outages.

5. Incorporate passive solar design — Every home should acknowledge passive solar design. It means that homes should be placed on the site set in the correct orientation. For example, in Australia, homes should be facing North to take advantage of the best sunlight, which reduces heating and cooling costs.

6. Improve natural ventilation — Orienting a home to take advantage of natural breezes and airflow will reduce air-conditioning and save electrical costs. In addition, natural and clean air is far better than recycled air and improves the health of the occupants.

7. Simplify construction methodology — Adopting simple and flexible construction methods allows for faster construction time. Prefab modular concepts, be it flat-packed or modular, can be produced in a covered factory, providing trades with a better working environment. It can also reduce construction waste.

8. Built-in any location — In addition to flat-pack or modular construction, an entirely off-the-grid home can be built in any location, even in remote regions.

9. Reduce the ratio — A traditional smart home is where 80% is a fractionally constructed home, and 20% are smart gadgets. Phaeton Smart Homes should reduce this ratio where 80% is sustainably designed and built.

10. Incorporate IoT and AI — Through Phaeton Blockchain Technology, Phaeton Smarter housing will link up with existing and new IoT and develop its own Artificial Intelligence (AI) to reduce energy use further. In addition, Phaeton will provide each home with (1) a Phaeton Private Node, which provides a passive income through staking and (2) Phaeton Personal ID for home security.

While the above principles aim at creating an off-grid sustainable smarter housing, it will not be 100% carbon neutral as some products will still be using fossil fuels to produce such as steel, benchtops, building panels and more. In addition, the initial capital cost will be more than traditionally built homes, but the off-grid methods will save significant operating expenses in the longer term. Phaeton Smarter Housing also provides financing methods that will be paying off this upfront capital cost.
